First Gen Celebration had an amazing turn out at Texas State University. Many events were hosted by faculty, staff, and students to create communities of support and success to first gen students. There were over 12 events organized to appreciate the commitment and success of first-generation college students. First Gen Proud is grateful for all constituents at Texas State that were instrumental in celebrating our first gen students.

Events were a phenomenal success. Our keynote speaker, Dr. Santa-Ramirez shared his first-gen story and spoke about what paying it forward through research and mentorship would look like and how it creates positive changes in the community for first- gen students. Departments dedicated time and energy to create welcoming environment for students, faculty and staff to share their first-gen stories. There was a high level of pride during first gen celebration week. #CelebrateFirstGen
